Your romantic photoshoot at the Boston Public Library in the heart of Copley Square awaits! From the grand marble staircase to the iconic reading room with greens lights, you have the entire library to yourself for a whole hour before it’s open to the general public. Read this guide to prepare for your photoshoot.

Scheduling Your Session
- Must be scheduled on a weekday before the library is open to the public (8:00 am – 9:00 am)
- A photography permit costs $750
- Contact the Special Events Office and you’ll be able to schedule your session one month prior to your desired photoshoot date. Additional information: flyer; email: events@bpl.org; phone number: 617-859-2212
- Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your session begins. When you arrive, let the staff know who you’ve been coordinating with, and they’ll help guide you from there. Sessions begin promptly at 8:00 AM!
Please be mindful during your photoshoot! No climbing on furniture or historic fixtures. Staff will be keeping a watchful eye throughout your whole photoshoot so please be respectful of the property!
Important: A photography permit is required for all professional photoshoots. There is security and staff around every perimeter during business hours. If they spot a professional photoshoot, there’s a chance you may be asked to leave, so it’s best not to risk it.
